White abalone was the first marine invertebrate federally listed as endangered, but a highly successful captive breeding program led by UC Davis Bodega Marine Laboratory scientists is bringing them back from the brink of extinction. With over 17,000 white abalone released into the wild, the species is making a comeback—but now faces a new threat: funding cuts. Without support, this critical work could stall.

Join us for a celebration of white abalone and help raise funds to continue their restoration. Meet the scientists who are saving them, enjoy an exclusive sneak peek of the powerful new short film The Abalone Mother, and take part in a reception and silent auction featuring artwork, experiences, and treasures from generous artisans and supporters. All proceeds directly benefit the White Abalone Captive Breeding Program and help ensure the survival of this incredible species.

The event will be a casual and welcoming celebration—no need for formal attire, just bring your curiosity, your generosity, and your love for the ocean. Enjoy good company, meaningful art, and the chance to make a real difference for white abalone.

Attendees can also take a free tour of BML before the event. Tour capacity is limited and tours last approximately 90 minutes. If interested in taking a BML tour, please select the ticket option with your desired tour start time.
