Coastal Conditions
The Horseshoe Cove Webcam is part of the Bodega Ocean Observing Node, an ocean observing system centered at the Bodega Marine Laboratory. Additional real-time conditions in Bodega Bay, CA can be found on the BOON website.
Visiting BML
Free, docent-led tours are available to the public by reservation on Fridays for individuals and groups of up to 10 people. Visitors will learn about ongoing marine and coastal science research at Bodega Marine Laboratory and its history on the Sonoma Coast. Plus, they will get to meet a variety of colorful and diverse ocean creatures.
This live-streamed webcam offers a peek into a living laboratory and outdoor classroom on the UC Davis Bodega Marine Reserve, where the Bodega Marine Laboratory is located.
If you are unable to see the live stream here during daylight hours, please check our YouTube page for the latest stream.
If the image appears blurry, click on the YouTube settings (the gear-shaped icon), and select the highest quality option available.
Please note that we have been experiencing some intermittent network outages at Bodega Marine Laboratory that may result in downtime for the webcam.
Webcam Improvement Project
In October 2023, we embarked on a fundraising project to replace the webcam in Horseshoe Cove on the Bodega Marine Reserve with a live-streaming, high-quality model, installed on a sturdy tower. The support for this project was so overwhelming that we were even able to raise additional funds to add a second webcam to the roof of the laboratory, overlooking the open ocean. We couldn’t be more grateful to the community of supporters who have made this project possible.
