I’m a PhD student doing research to help save a species! I’m interested in marine ecology, disease management, and aquaculture. I currently am collaborating with the White Abalone Captive Breeding Program on conservation research. Prior to joining the Godwin lab, I was the White Abalone Health Specialist for the CDFW Shellfish Health Laboratory, and the White Abalone Culture Lab at UC Davis, Bodega Marine Laboratory (BML) from 2021-2023. I’m specialized both in the field, and at the lab bench with experience in DNA extraction, chemical protocols, and traversing field sites along the Pacific coast. I graduated from UC Santa Cruz with two degrees in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, and History, and am driven by finding ways to connect science with society and seeing the direct impacts of my work in saving a species every day.
