Where Water Connects Us

Across California’s waters, UC Davis scientists reveal how public research shapes safety, food systems, and resilience.

Their study systems are spread far and wide, from the inner delta to the coast and out into the open ocean, but their work is united in themes of change and community. Dr. John Durand, Dr. Hollis Jones, and Nicholas Trautman are all working to observe, understand, and apply science to a changing world. The impacts of this work reach back to all of us, wherever we are. Because what’s in the water doesn’t stay there: it flows into every community and every life through infrastructure, food security, public safety, ecological health and community resilience.
