Professors Sanford and Bay Receive New NSF Grant

Eric Sanford and Rachael Bay have recently been awarded a new grant through the National Science Foundation (NSF). Their project, “Evolution of Dispersal Traits During a Geographic Range Expansion” (award #2618712), will build on their work with owl limpets and investigate geographic range shifts and how marine species respond to ocean warming. As part of the project, the team will conduct larval rearing experiments at the Bodega Marine Laboratory (BML), complemented by genomics work in Bay’s lab. The grant includes funding to provide interdisciplinary training to Ph.D. students working with Drs. Bay and Sanford, including Julianna Porter.
