Research interests: Many species occur across large areas characterized by complex spatial mosaics of environmental conditions. These spatially varying selection pressures can result in species can become locally adapted to their surrounding environment. I study how local adaptation influences species interactions and community processes and how that scales up to large biogeographic scales. I study these questions in rocky intertidal ecosystems along the Pacific coast of the U.S.
