For my postdoctoral research, I am developing ultrasound as a non-invasive technique to track gonad maturation and reproductive success in endangered black abalone (Haliotis cracherodii) advised by Dr. Jackson Gross. Prior to joining the Aquaculture Cooperative Extension Lab, I completed my PhD on the effects of ocean acidification on the growth and survival in early-stage red abalone (H. rufescens) and developed adaptive strategies for conservation and production aquaculture at UC Davis under the direction of Dr. Andrew Whitehead. For my master’s research at San Francisco State University, I investigated the physiological effect of wintertime salinity and warming in Olympia oysters (Ostrea lurida) under the supervision of Dr. Anne Todgham.
